Channing Tatum's Rainforest Fund Giving Shows Charitable Side Of People's 'Sexiest Man Alive'

It was probably his chiseled abs and steamy stripper moves in “Magic Mike” that nabbed Channing Tatum People Magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive” title. But we’d like to think that this hunk’s charitable ways had something to do with the decision, too.

Tatum joins the ranks of such Hollywood hotties as Brad Pitt and George Clooney when he graces of one of People’s most anticipated covers of the year. And while his buff bod takes center stage, we think his fierce environmental advocacy is what qualifies this guy as eye candy.

The “21 Jump Street” star and his wife, Jenna Dewan-Tatum, have committed their charitable efforts to saving the rainforests and have played a key role in raising millions for the cause.

Back in April, Tatum hit the stage at Carnegie Hall –- along with such A-listers as Meryl Streep and Jennifer Hudson –- for the 2012 Revlon Concert, which raised money for the Rainforest Fund.

At the event, Tatum treated Elton John to a lap dance and also performed a sexy dance set with his wife.

For their eco efforts, Do Something, a nonprofit that encourages young people to give back to their communities, nominated the Tatums as the 2012 “Do Something Couple” of the year. Jenna also was recognized in Self Magazine’s "Women Doing Good Awards” for her animal advocacy.

“When I’m passionate about something, I have to take action,” she told Self. “If we can’t make the world a better place, then why are we here?”
