Ronda Rousey, UFC Confirm Deal: Female MMA Star Will Join Dana White's Company

Ronda Rousey and Dana White made it official. The first U.S. woman to win a medal in judo at the Olympics, Rousey is the first female fighter to join White's UFC.

Days after a report from TMZ indicated that Rousey would be joining UFC, White confirmed the move during an appearance on The Jim Rome Show.

"Yes, it's official. Ronda Rousey did sign with the UFC," White confirmed to Rome, adding,"She has the whole package. I've never been interested in women's MMA. First, there were not enough good girls to create an entire division."

With White having confirmed the move, Rousey took to Twitter to do the same.

The 25-year-old mixed martial artist had previously fought in Strikeforce and is the reigning women's bantamweight champion, having successfully defended the title in August 2012. Given that White had told TMZ in 2011 that UFC would never sign female fighters, this signing represents a massive step for female MMA and UFC.
