Prep School Bus Crash Sends Kids To Hospital

WASHINGTON -- A school bus carrying 18 students was involved in a crash with three other vehicles Monday morning on Nebraska Avenue near the Department of Homeland Security and the Swedish ambassador's residence.

The bus driver and a 14-year-old ejected from a broken window of the bus suffered injuries that were considered serious, D.C. fire officials say. The bus driver may have a broken ankle.

As WNEW-FM reports, the students involved attend the Field School, a private prep school located on Foxhall Road.

The bus involved was a Reston Limousine, according to a photo tweeted by WRC-TV/NBC4's Darcy Spencer.

Nebraska Avenue was closed as the crash was investigated, prompting major delays in the vicinity of American University and the Tenleytown neighborhood.
