Shake Shack Chicago? Hit New York Burger Chain May Expand To The Windy City

Is Shake Shack Looking At Chicago With Hungry Eyes?

Rumors are swirling that the burger and frozen custard chain Shake Shack could soon touch down in Chicago, making it only the second U.S. location outside the East Coast.

Monday morning, Grub Street New York reported Shake Shack's owners, Union Square Hospitality Group, were eyeing the Harley Davidson store in River North as the potential site.

Eater Chicago said a tipster provided the site with similar information, though both outlets could only confirm the company's plan to keep mum on the rumored expansion. Eater noted if the popular burger chain does set up shop in Chicago, it will be right across from Mario Batali's newly announced Chicago Eataly location.

Translation: the traffic around the Shops at North Bridge could get thicker than one of the Shack's "concrete" shakes once foodies and tourists start flocking to the area to check out the New York exports.
