A California drug and alcohol counselor has been arrested after allegedly hitting a pedestrian with her car and driving for over two miles with the dying man lying partially through her windshield.

Police say Sherri Wilkins, 51, of Torrance, was driving drunk at around 11:25 pm on Saturday when her vehicle struck 31-year-old Philip Moreno, the Los Angeles Times reported.

"[Moreno was] literally embedded in her hood and into the windshield," Sgt. Robert Watt told the Torrance Daily Breeze. "She knew he was somehow embedded into her car but she panicked."

Wilkins, whose blood alcohol level was allegedly almost twice the legal limit, drove 2.3 miles with the man atop her car before passersby were able to convince her to stop.

Moreno was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Wilkins was arrested for manslaughter and driving under the influence. She is being held on $100,000 bail.

According to KABC, Wilkins is employed as a drug and alcohol counselor at Twin Town Treatment Center in Torrance. One of her clients is reportedly a family member of Moreno.
