Danica Patrick On Her Divorce And Why She Used Facebook To Announce It

Danica Patrick On Divorce And Facebook: "I Want To Be Upfront And Honest With My Fans"

Divorce is hard enough to go through in private, but when the world is paying attention, what's the best way to handle it? NASCAR driver Danica Patrick came by HuffPost Live on Tuesday, and host Mike Sacks asked about her decision to announce her recent divorce via her Facebook page.

Patrick explained that she chose that approach because "you have that authenticity, you have the control, it's our personal Facebook page, and it's really for the fans. My fans are really dedicated to me and I have such great ones." She stressed the importance of being straightforward, saying "I want to be upfront and honest with my fans and we thought that was the best way."

Some of those very fans joined the discussion, including Rachelle Darling, writer for AwesomeRaceFans.com, college student Katie Copple, sportswriter Kelly McHugh, and the father-daughter fans Dan and Syd Steger.
