Joan Collins Remembers How Larry Hagman Influenced Her 'Dynasty' Character On 'Watch What Happens: Live' (VIDEO)

How Larry Hagman Influenced Joan Collins' 'Dynasty' Character

Joan Collins shares an interesting television legacy with Larry Hagman. The recently deceased "Dallas" star was ranked by E!, alongside Joan Collins, among the greatest TV villains of all time.

Collins did her dastardly deeds on the prime-time soap "Dynasty." She talked about the influence Hagman had over her performance on "Watch What Happens: Live."

"Dallas" began its long reign in 1978, while "Dynasty" launched three years later in 1981 -- Collins joined the show in its second season. Both series made it into the following decade, wrapping their impressive runs in 1991. In that time, Collins and Hagman both created characters that TV viewers loved to hate.

"I took my character Alexis -- a lot of what she was like was from J.R.," Collins said. "And when I first came into the show, they compared me to J.R."

Larry Hagman reprised his role as J.R. Ewing in the new TNT run of "Dallas," and reportedly filmed six episodes of the upcoming season. His death is being worked into the narrative. "Dallas" returns on January 28, 2013.

Tune in to "Watch What Happens: Live" every Sunday through Thursday at 11 p.m. ET on Bravo.
