For the rest of the holiday season, in lieu of a traditional gift guide, we'll be featuring a different LGBT organization every day for our "30 Days Of LGBT Giving." Check back tomorrow for a look at another incredible group that's working tirelessly on behalf of the LGBT community, and our slideshow below will grow everyday with new pictures sent from these outstanding organizations.
Since 1993, the Gay & Lesbian Victory Institute has worked to increase the amount of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) individuals in public office and provides support and resources to ensure their success. One way the institute cultivates future LGBT leaders in politics, business and advocacy is through its training and professional development programs.
This year's general election saw a number of victories for openly LGBT candidates, including the historic elections of Rep. Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis.) as the nation's first openly gay senator and Rep. Mark Takano (D-Calif.) as the first LGBT person of color in Congress.
Although the election season is over, LGBT public officers and future candidates always need continuous support.
For more on the Victory Institute, visit their website, which lists all openly LGBT public officials (there's more than 1,000 around the world). You can also find them on Twitter, @VictoryFund, and on Facebook to find out how you can support this great organization and its constituents.
