John Oliver stopped by the recently-renewed "Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell," and like most interviews with Oliver, his native country was the first topic of discussion.
But this time, the "Daily Show" correspondent got a little serious about the difficulties he faced with his own immigration from England to America. Oliver officially got his green card in October 2009.
"It was very, very difficult to get that green card," Oliver said, joking that the British were used to just conquering land they wanted to live in. "It was an incredible painful, traumatic experience. And if it was that difficult for someone like me, then you know the immigration system is ridiculous in this country."
