Alan Cumming On Gay Rights: 'Everyone But The Republican Party' Knows The World Has Changed

Alan Cumming joined HuffPost Live Monday to discuss his new film, "Any Day Now" which centers on LGBT issues in the 1970's. While sitting with host Abby Huntsman and film director Travis Fine, Cumming also discussed current LGBT issues and legislation surrounding them.

"I think it's great that we have a president that's spoken out and has support for gay marriage," Cumming said. "It needs to start from the top and it needs to actually be legislation as well as just a nice message."

Cumming said that he was encouraged by the results in the 2012 election.

"In this last election, I think it was really clear that, to everyone apart from the Republican party, that the country has changed, the world has changed, and there's certain things, like gay rights, that need to be addressed," he said.
