Piers Morgan, Alec Baldwin Clash Over Tabloid Press (VIDEO)

Alec Baldwin appeared on Piers Morgan's Thursday night show and fundamentally disagreed with the CNN host on the topic of tabloid journalism.

Baldwin, an actor who has made his disdain for paparazzi and the "Today" show quite clear, lamented the existence of the tabloid press. He said so much entertainment journalism "cheapens and demystifies showbusiness," and said that outlets like TMZ participate in "gotcha journalism" that try to "stab you in the back."

Morgan, a former tabloid editor, disagreed. "I say this with great respect, because I know that you get much more attention than I would. Whenever I come across these guys, especially TMZ, they always strike me as quite entertaining ... I just find them kind of a necessary part of the business."

"That's the difference of opinion we have," Baldwin said. "You have a very different opinion than I do. My attitude is that the business would be infinitely better if all of them were gone. If I could press a button tomorrow and flush them all down some swirling sewer vortex, I would do it."
