An Oakland Raiders game took a turn on Thursday night when a fan fell 30 feet from the upper deck of the O.co Coliseum. According to the NFL, the man is in serious condition.

The man, whose name was not released, climbed over a wall on the concourse outside the third deck on the older section of the Coliseum, facing Oracle Arena, around 5:30 p.m., authorities said. The man hung briefly from a railing, then plunged to the ground 30 feet below, Oakland police said.

The fall was believed to be an accident, and the Raiders released the following statement: "We do not yet have any information beyond that which has been publicly reported. Our thoughts and prayers are with this gentleman and his family and friends."

The Raiders played the Denver Broncos, and lost the game 13-26.

Last year, a fan died at a Texas Rangers game after falling 20 feet from the stands while trying to catch a ball tossed his way.

"As an organization, and as our team members and our staff, we're very heavy-hearted about this," said Rangers president Nolan Ryan at the time. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family."
