It's a difficult feat to turn a plain and small apartment into a unique and stylish space. But designer and Etsy shop owner Michelle Konar's Upper West Side apartment is proof that a few creative DIY projects can definitely do the trick. She easily transformed her walls with some paint and a few pieces of wall art that she designed and painted herself. Another project that Konar's very proud of is her hospital-style bed. An awesome flea market find, she refinished the bed and added a comforter and throw pillows with different patterns and textures to really make it cozy.
In the kitchen, a buffet piece provides valuable counter space and helps make entertaining easier. Konar also created her own faux-backsplash with some corkboard, paint and 3M adhesive. To mimic this design in your own home, cut the corkboard into rectangular pieces (or whatever shape you want), paint each one and then simply attach them to the wall with adhesive strips.
