Penguin Falls Down In Front Of His Friends, Self-Explanatory Cuteness Unfolds (VIDEO)

Penguin Slips, Falls In Fron Of His Buddies, Prompting Hilarious Response

A viral YouTube clip recently making the rounds on Reddit is making a pretty good case for penguin videos being the new cat videos.

In the footage, posted to the online forum last week, several penguins walk across an icy expanse. Without warning -- surprise! -- a penguin at the front of the line slips on the slick surface and falls, prompting an almost laugh track-sounding response from his fellow "friends."

Viewed more than 1,200,000 times, the video combines some of the Internet's absolute favorite things: cute animals and animals doing funny things.

And the Internet sure can't get enough of those.

Just take this clip of a baby red panda, for example: The video of the animal falling over backward at the surprising appearance of a zookeeper has been viewed more than 3 million times. Then there's the clip of the giant red pandas tumbling down a slide, and the adorable baby elephant who sneezes and literally scares itself.

Though penguins cannot fly, they waddle somewhat awkwardly while walking upright, the World Wildlife Foundation notes. However, when snow conditions allow, they can slide on their bellies. Much more graceful in the water with their flippers and streamlined body, some species of penguins can swim up to 15 mph.
