The referees seem to have made Toronto Raptors games more exciting this week. During a home matchup against the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday night, Kris Humphries was getting ready to shoot his second free throw in the fourth quarter when referee Courtney Kirkland suddenly tried to block his foul shot.
According to Business Insider, A Raptors sub was checking into the game so Kirkland wanted Humphries to wait until everyone was on the court. Both Kirkland and Humphries couldn't help but laugh and the Nets forward went on to sink the free throw.
It was the second straight Raptors game that included a bizarre incident involving an official. On Monday night, a referee and Toronto's Amir Johnson got into a tug-of-war after a made free throw which resulted in Johnson's ejection after he threw a tantrum.
Following Brooklyn's 94-88 win, the YES Network actually declared Kirkland's block the Play of the Game.
And just like that, a Twitter hashtag #SkyKirkland was born.
