Why Bank Of America Wants You To Look Really Old

Oh, you look gorgeous now, but just you wait! The big 4-0, 45, 50, 75 -- those landmark birthdays are just a hobble and an aching back away. Perhaps that’s why Bank of America’s Merrill Edge division has invented an awesome (though terrifying) web-based digital aging program that lets you see how shriveled and jowly you’ll look with each passing decade. It’s called Face Retirement.

I first read about the grandpa-app in PopSci, which explains the rationale behind Merrill’s decision. A 2011 Stanford study concluded that when you see an age-enhanced version of yourself -- gasp! -- you’re more likely to save extra money for retirement
