The duchess is back!
After being forced to cancel her last four public appearances due to acute morning sickness, Kate Middleton has finally felt well enough to step out for a formal engagement -- and she looked absolutely stunning. The Duchess of Cambridge attended BBC's annual Sports Personality Of The Year Awards last night to present Bradley Wiggins and London 2012 chief Lord Coe with a SPOTY trophy and the Lifetime Achievement award, respectively.
It's not too surprising that Kate would choose to attend this event in particular, while opting to rest at home during "The Hobbit" premiere last week. The royal serves as an ambassador for Team GB and maintained a strong presence during the Olympics and Paralympics this year. Remember how enthusiastic she was cheering in the sidelines with Prince William last summer? It also didn't hurt that her entire SPOTY stint lasted about 45 minutes, so we're sure she bolted back to bed as soon as she was finished.
Kate is less than 12 weeks pregnant, but she still managed to glow in the emerald Alexander McQueen gown she chose for the awards show. The floor-length, bell-sleeved dress was yet another nod to '70s style, her look as of late (right?). The 30-year-old paired her McQueen with Black Jimmy Choo heels, Kiki McDonough blue topaz earrings, an Asprey button pendant and her signature bangs.
We have to wonder: is this retro glam a sign of what's to come for Catherine's maternity wear? We sure hope so. And so does Alexander McQueen designer Sarah Burton actually. But, of course, the most important thing is that the duchess continues to be well.
So here's to Kate feeling better, looking great and wearing more McQueen!
