Jamie tells Oprah that the day before, he'd spoken to Leo about embracing method acting on set in order for the two of them to get a better grasp on the disturbing material. In "Django Unchained," Jamie stars as the titular character, a freed slave-turned-bounty hunter in the pre-Civil War South. Leo plays ruthless plantation owner Calvin Candie, the cruel owner of Django's beloved wife.
Jamie tells Oprah that Leo was all in character that silent day on set. "He went way in to where it's like, 'Okay, now you're really going there,'" Jamie says. "And that was what was needed."
The "Oprah's Next Chapter" interview with Jamie Foxx airs Sunday, Dec. 23, at 9 ET on OWN.
