Best Plays Of 2012: Mike Trout's Catch, Zlatan Ibrahimovic's Goal Among Highlights Of The Year (VIDEO)

Zlatan stunning score or RG3's singular run? Mike Trout's catch or Devin Smith's snag? Bubba Watson's clutch shot or Austin Rivers' buzzer beater? These are some of the choices that you'll have to make to determine the top play of 2012.

It seems like every few weeks, there's a new "catch of the year" candidate, whether it's from football or baseball. Rarely does a month go by without a new dunk of the year candidate going viral, even during the summer.

With 2012 about to give way to 2013, it's time to compare and contrast all of these breathtaking moments from the past 12 months.

Out of all the catches of the year nominees in 2012, did any of them stand out more than Trout's home run robbery of Baltimore's J.J. Hardy? The Gold Glove shortstop had been in a 3 for 37 slump and had cracked one to deep center field. It looked as if he had finally broken out of the June skid. But Trout sprinted to the wall, made a perfectly-timed leap and took the home run away from him.

Not only was it arguably the catch of the 2012 baseball season but it introduced Trout to fans across the country. The dynamic newcomer went on to make a habit of robbing homers and hitting homers (30) en route to winning the Rookie of the Year award. And in the minds of some baseball fanatics, Trout should have been named the 2012 AL MVP as well.
