Congratulations, Rosie O'Donnell!
O'Donnell and her wife, Michelle Rounds, welcomed a baby girl, Dakota, through adoption on Saturday, Jan. 5, People magazine confirms. The baby weighed in at 5 pounds, 5 ounces, and “moms and baby are healthy and happy.”
The former talk show host took to her Twitter to announce the good news to fans. "We r thrilled to announce the arrival of r daughter Dakota - #withloveandthanks - AMEN," O'Donnell tweeted on Wednesday afternoon. She also shared an Instagram shot of their daughter.
Last January, O'Donnell revealed to Dr. Mehmet Oz that Rounds had been "trying to get pregnant."
"Michelle is seeing a fertility doctor," a source close to O'Donnell told Us Weekly at the time. "She is really excited and they cannot wait to add to their family. Rosie goes to all of her doctors' appointments with her and is really supportive. She isn't pregnant yet but they hope as soon as possible she will be."
O'Donnell secretly married Rounds in a private ceremony in June.
A baby is joyous news for 2013, after a year of difficulties for the couple.
The 50-year-old comedian already has four other children -- Blake, Vivienne, Parker and Chelsea -- with ex-wife Kelli Carpenter, notes E! News. Dakota is her first baby with Rounds.
