Turner Prize Headed To Scotland For First Time In 2015 As Glasgow's Tramway Wins Host Bid

In 2015 Glasgow's Tramway will become the first Scottish venue to host Tate's Turner Prize, BBC reports, after the city council, Creative Scotland, and Event Scotland bid to play host to the annual exhibition and ceremony honoring the top British artist under 50. The Turner takes place at the Tate every other year, while an institution outside London hosts on alternate years.

Three other venues -- Walsall's New Art Gallery, the Nottingham Contemporary, and Manchester's Whitworth Art Gallery -- had also been shortlisted as possible 2015 host sites, but Tramway prevailed.
