Syfy will not continue "Alphas" beyond Season 2, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
"We’ve been proud to present this entertaining, high-quality series for two seasons and to work with an incredible ensemble of talented actors, producers and creatives as well as our partners at BermanBraun Television," the network said in a statement to THR. "We’d like to thank the show’s dedicated regular viewers for their tremendous support."
The series centered around people with superhuman abilities who joined forces to investigate mysteries and tackle cases that other law enforcement and government agencies were unable to solve.
Star Azita Ghanizada confirmed the news via Twitter on Wednesday.
She also posted a longer missive to fans on Facebook: "Sad to announce that Alphas will not be returning for a third season. Truly an honor to get to play Rachel for the past two years and to get to work with the Alphas cast and crew. Every producer, executive, writer, gaffer etc worked around the clock to make the show special and we all loved every second. Thank goodness for the Syfy network which gave us the space and the place to make some magic in that awesome alternative Universe that was Alphas."
The show concluded its sophomore (and ultimately final) season in October, with its finale drawing only 1.17 million viewers, down from the 1.7 million it earned in its second season premiere.
