Letterman's Top 10 Lance Armstrong Revelations Includes Defense Of Cyclist (VIDEO)

Maybe it's because he knows all too well what it feels like to be in Oprah Winfrey's hot seat, but David Letterman is one of the few public figures to come to Lance Armstrong's defense -- even if the "Late Show" host was just goofing around.

"I'm just playing the devil's advocate," Letterman began in a prelude to Tuesday night's Top 10 Other Lance Armstrong Revelations list.

Pointing out that drugs simply help bodies reach their highest potential, whether it's to fight infection or to defeat athletic opponents, Letterman said he did not have much of a problem with Armstrong's admission that he used performance enhancing drugs, since sports are entertaining.

He added, "Even if it takes a managed program of steroid abuse."

Of course, he was likely just kidding: "What do we care?" he poised. "Even more accurately, in the world of cycling, which no one cares about... Honest to God, who cares? No one."
