$525 million is a lot of money, even for the fourth highest-paid athlete in 2012.

When reports began circulating on Sunday that the Maloof family had reached an agreement to sell 65% of the Sacramento Kings for that amount to a Seattle group led by investor Chris Hansen, LeBron James noticed.

According to Marc Stein of ESPN.com, the NBA commented on the pending agreement on Monday, indicating that all 30 teams had been notified.

"The proposed transaction is subject to the approval of the NBA Board of Governors and has been referred to the Board's committee process for review," the NBA announced.
