When San Francisco went to the World Series in October, Detroit sports columnist Jeff Seidel wrote that the Tigers could never lose to the Giants because Detroit would never live it down.
Citing the gourmet food options at AT&T, Seidel noted that a team whose fans who eat "garlic fries, crab sandwiches on grilled sourdough bread, clam chowder, fried calamari, sweet potato fries with cinnamon and chipotle sprinkle, and clove garlic chicken sandwiches" couldn't possibly beat the Tigers.
Days later, the Giants showed Seidel that the only thing they were serving was crow.
Fast forward a few months and San Francisco--the city of wine-sippers and chowder-slurpers--is once again at the biggest game in sports.
But just because we may soon become the next Title Town USA doesn't mean we aren't still San Francisco. Translation: bad chips and dip are not going to cut it at your Super Bowl party.
