'Girl Meets World' Creator Michael Jacobs Talks Returning Characters, Why Series Almost Didn't Happen

How The 'Boy Meets World' Spinoff Almost Didn't Happen

Many "Boy Meets World" fans and cast members are completely on board with "Girl Meets World" these days, but series creator Michael Jacobs was initially hesitant about the idea of a spinoff.

“There’s a natural reticence to want to try and attempt something that you’ve been really lucky enough to do once,” Jacobs told EW of taking on the spinoff. “But to actually take the children of Cory and Topanga and watch on two levels [as they] grow up and as Cory and Topanga keep growing up, I can’t resist that. I can’t resist that and I’m very hopeful the audience won’t resist it either.”

While Jacobs is staying tight-lipped on most of the details of "Girl Meets World," he says appearances by series originals Shawn (Rider Strong), Eric (Will Friedle) and Minkus (Lee Norris) are a definite possibility.

“I think there’s more than a chance ... I think there's a strong chance," he said.

While Strong wrote on his website that he had no official involvement in "Girl Meets World" in November, he did hint at wanting a role on the series.

"There might be a chance to see some of the 'BMW' cast in a guest spot," Strong wrote. "And I think it would be nice to find out where our characters have been all these years."
