Russell Brand, Katy Perry Divorce Will Not Stop The Comedian From Marrying Again

Russell Brand: Marriage To Katy Perry Was 'Brilliant'

Did Russell Brand's divorce from Katy Perry turn him off of marriage altogether?

"Not at all," the British funnyman said in an interview with UK magazine ShortList Wednesday. "I liked marriage. Most of it was brilliant. You can’t condemn an institution on one incident. You can’t condemn the whole Catholic Church for a few dodgy priests."

Brand also opened up about how his very public split changed him, telling the magazine, "I feel different about my private life. I feel like I need to have one now. If you’re married to someone who’s also famous, privacy becomes a commodity."

But where exactly did his marriage to Perry go wrong? As it turns out, the two celebrities just weren't compatible.

"Sometimes it goes well, sometimes it don't," the "Brand X" star said in a September 2012 interview with Australia's "60 Minutes." "But if you sort of sense there’s an incompatibility, then in any relationship, regardless of the status of the individual, it kind of is best to go separate ways."

Brand filed for divorce from Perry in December 2011, just 14 months after the pair tied the knot in India. They finalized their split in July 2012.
