'The Chew' Enjoys Highest Ratings In Show's History

People Are Actually Watching 'The Chew'

Despite low marks from the critics when it first aired, daytime food-centric talk show "The Chew" is doing well in the ratings.

An ABC press release boasts that the program recently enjoyed its most-watched week ever with 2.654 million total viewers, up by 19 percent in a year's time. "The Chew" also had the seventh-best selling cookbook of 2012.

The same release also reveals that viewership of "The Chew" grew for the fourth week in a row. Unsurprisingly, its most successful demographic is "Women 18-49 and Women 25-54." (Aren't those just slightly different versions of the same demographic, though?)

The draw might be in the show's special guests, which in the recent past have included singer-songwriter Jewel, lifestyle guru Martha Stewart and actress Drew Barrymore.

Perhaps, also, "The Chew" heeded early criticism and worked on improving the hosts' chemistry and pacing.
