Fox News Debates Adele's Weight; Nutritionist Tells Adele, Kelly Clarkson To Slim Down (VIDEO)

Fox News Anchor, Nutritionist Target Adele's Weight

Fox News has a message for Adele: lose some weight!

The network devoted a four-and-a-half minute segment to this pressing national issue during Neil Cavuto's Monday show — which supposedly focuses on business.

The discussion was apparently prompted by a viewer's tweet:

Fox News then invited nutritionist Karen Gilbert on to the show to discuss the issue. Gilbert suggested that both Adele and Kelly Clarkson, "women who both came from low means" to achieve stardom and recognition during Sunday's Grammys show, should nevertheless slim down a bit (though she did say they were "beautiful"):

"We have processed food and we’re always struggling with — and people are saying, looking at Adele and saying, 'look at what she has accomplished. I could be overweight like her. I don’t need to address these issues in my life.'"

ThinkProgress notes that both Kelly Clarkson and Adele (who recently had a baby) have faced down weight-based criticism for years.

In September, noted fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld was forced to apologize for saying Adele was "a little too fat."

"I've never wanted to look like models on the cover of magazines," Adele told People. "I represent the majority of women and I'm very proud of that."
