On Presidents Day, Let's Honor The Most Giving Leaders Of Free World

Sure, all of the leaders of the free world are supposed to share in the glory of Presidents Day. But, here at HuffPost Impact, we’d like to take a moment to honor a very select few who made to sure that, while presiding over the U.S. of A, they also led the way in supporting the underserved and encouraging Americans to give back.

President Jimmy Carter and his wife, Rosalynn, founded The Carter Center in 1982, an organization that's committed to human rights and improving global health. Two years later, Carter got involved with Habitat for Humanity when he helped renovate a building in New York City for 19 families in need of affordable shelter and he continues to play a critical role with the organization today.

President Franklin D. Roosevelt founded the March Of Dimes in 1938 to help fund polio vaccination programs and prevent birth defects and infant mortality.
