5-Year-Old Boy Shot In The Bronx

A five-year-old boy was accidentally shot with his father's gun in New York City Friday, DNAinfo reports.

The boy's father claimed responsibility for the shooting, but sources think he's likely covering for his 11-year-old son who may have been playing with the weapon when it discharged inside an apartment on Westchester Avenue in the Bronx.

After the accident, the father waved down cops on his way to the hospital. The boy was rushed to Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center with a gunshot wound in the shoulder. He is listed in serious but stable condition.

“That little boy is just, like, he’s bubbly," a neighbor told CBS of the young shooting victim. "He’s always happy. You can tell when a kid is happy when he’s being parented right, you know?”

In July, four-year-old Lloyd Morgan was shot and killed in the Bronx during a memorial basketball game at the Morrisania public housing complex.
