Reduce Dust In Your Home By Giving Your Stuff A Good Shake

There’s one thing to be found in every home -- dust.

It just seems that no matter how much we wipe down surfaces or take a broom to the floor, there’s always little bunnies lurking around. And while we can’t stop them from showing up, Family Handyman did find ways to reduce household dust.

One way the website recommends to do this is by beating your furniture (yes -- we mean give it a good whack). Since rugs are notorious for trapping dust, it’s important to not only vacuum them, but also take them outside for a good shake three to four times a year. Familyhandyman also recommends using a tennis racket on your cushions to beat the grime out.

Those are two really simple ways to help reduce dust. We also found this great video by Howcast on how to dust-proof your home. It goes into a fun animation about which spots to pay attention to. So next time you’re giving your home a good clean, don’t be afraid to get a little rough with the furniture.
