Cat vs. Crocodile: Brave Feline Takes On Reptile At India Zoo (VIDEO)

WATCH: Cat Meets A Crocodile

Nine lives or not, this kitty was ready for a fight.

A particularly brave cat took on a crocodile recently at a zoo in Jaipur, India. According to the video's description, the ginger-and-white cat somehow found its way into the reptile's enclosure.

Perched near the water, the feline eyes the menacing reptile as it inches toward the shore. As soon as the croc is within paw's reach, the cat reacts instinctively, bating the creature on its snout as excited onlookers react.

After a second hit, the crocodile slides back into the water, appearing to accept defeat.

According to the Daily Mail, Manu Chaudhary and her husband Vishal captured footage of the cat facing down the crocodile while visiting the zoo last week.

The reptile is most likely a mugger crocodile, a species that lives throughout the Indian subcontinent. The mugger is known to feed on fish and small mammals, such as monkeys and squirrels.

In 2010, a pet cat had a similar reaction when it faced off against not one, but two, alligators.

Update: As a HuffPost commenter pointed out, the crocodile seen in the video may actually be a gharial -- another crocodile that is also native to the Indian subcontinent -- rather than a mugger crocodile. The gharial is known for its characteristic long, narrow snout, which enables the creature to easily snatch fish -- its primary food source. According to the World Wildlife Fund, the gharial is a critically endangered species.
