According to his Twitter feed, Savchenko is the Australian National Professional Latin-American Champion of 2011-2012 and came in 10th place in WDC ranking awards in 2009.
Savchenko, 29, was born in Moscow and began dancing at the age of 7. In 2006, Savchenko earned a degree in choreography from The Russian University of Theatre Arts (GITIS). In his Australian bio, Savchenko is described as a specialist in International Latin dance with proficiency in ballet and contemporary dance. He studied acting at The Actors Pulse in Sydney.
Another new pro has joined "Dancing With the Stars" for Season 16: Sharna Burgess, who's partnered with Andy Dick and replaces Chelsie Hightower.
