Sherri Shepherd: 'I Was Homeless'

Sherri Shepherd is a co-host of "The View" these days, but getting there wasn't easy.

She walked the red carpet at the Oscars on Sunday night and reflected on her start in stand-up comedy. She worked as a legal secretary during the day while doing comedy at night. "I was in jail for eight days," she said on Sunday. "I was homeless for a little bit. I was on people's couches, but it was an amazing journey. I got to make people laugh all the way."

Before making it on "The View," Shepherd got her first big television break on the sitcom "Cleghorne!" She also had roles on "Everybody Loves Raymond," where she played Robert Barone's police partner Sergeant Judy, "The Jamie Foxx Show" and "Suddenly Susan."
