What is Giuliana Rancic's recipe for a happy life? Put your marriage first and your child second.
The E! correspondent revealed that she and her husband, Bill, maintain such a solid relationship by making each other a priority.
"We're husband and wife, but we're also best friends, and it's funny because a lot of people, when they have kids, they put the baby first, and the marriage second," Giluliana told Us Weekly on Tuesday. "That works for some people. For us, I find, we put our marriage first and our child second, because the best thing we can do for him is have a strong marriage."
"So we're even stronger than we ever were before and even imagined we could be," the 38-year-old, who married Bill in 2007 in Capri, Italy, told the magazine. She added, "I always say to Bill, 'You were my first baby,' because he was! He was my first love and my first baby and Duke is my second baby."
Giuliana and Bill welcomed their first child, Edward Duke, via gestational surrogate in August.
The two have certainly been through some trying times together.
For years, Giuliana struggled to get pregnant, but to no avail. During her third in vitro fertilization attempt, she underwent a mammogram at the suggestion of her doctor only to discover she had breast cancer.
"When you go through something like this, your spouse either sinks or swims, and Bill definitely proved he’s a swimmer," Giuliana told The Hollywood Reporter about her husband last April. "I mean, he swam the English Channel in this one, so he’s a pretty incredible person."
In October, she revealed they are hoping to welcome baby No. 2 soon. She has frozen embryos available and plans to use a gestational surrogate again.
