World's Largest Snowball? Silver Star Mountain Resort Goes For Guinness Record (VIDEO)

LOOK: Is This The World's Largest Snowball?

A winter resort in British Columbia, Canada thinks it has rolled the world's largest snowball.

According to the World Record Academy Silver Star Mountain Resort's 11 ft. 4 in. tall snowball -- weighing nearly 40,000 lbs -- is the biggest of its kind.

If that's the case, the snowball, playfully displayed with skiers' legs sticking out of it, is more than a story tall.

But Guinness hasn't recognized the record -- at least not yet, anyway. That honor is still held by a group of American guys, who built a 7 ft. 4 in. tall snowball in 2011.

If the record is officially broken, 2013 may prove to be the "Year of the Snowball."

In January, Seattle residents set the Guinness World Record for largest snowball fight, when 5,800 people turned out at the Seattle Center in the shadow of the Space Needle to battle it out Frosty-style.
