'Dallas' Says Goodbye To J.R. In Moving Tribute That Propels The Season's Mystery: 'Who Killed J.R.?' (VIDEO)

'Dallas': Moving Tribute To J.R. Propels Season's Mystery

"Dallas" staged a moving tribute to Larry Hagman and his most iconic role, J.R. Ewing, on Monday night's episode. After he was mysteriously shot and killed last week, the Ewings came together to lay to rest one of the most notorious villains in the history of television. There were tributes to J.R. throughout the episode, as well as several cameos from the original run of "Dallas."

Particularly moving were the tributes to J.R. from his brother Bobby and Sue Ellen. "You were the love of my life," she said.

Bobby was angry and frustrated by the betrayal he felt at the hands of his wife, Ann, as well as the shocking death of J.R. He kept his eulogy brief, and his frustration showed through. "I don’t want it to be true, but it is. My brother is dead. And so now, I have to figure out just what I’m supposed to do," he said. The Hollywood Reporter called the episode a "heartfelt tribute."

After his death, the family received a series of packages and letters from J.R. They learned that he was searching for Christopher's mother, Pamela -- everyone believes she was dead -- played by Victoria Principal in the original series. Could she be on her way back to the show?

J.R. was also trying to take down Harris Ryland, and he had a mysterious letter for Bobby that may prove to be his biggest move yet. Patrick Duffy recently teased that the resolution for Season 2 even made his jaw drop.

The cast and producers talked at Paleyfest about the emotional funeral episode for J.R. Ewing, the loss of Larry Hagman as a friend and collaborator, and the future of the show in a post-J.R. world.

"Dallas" has to figure out how to move on without J.R. Ewing on Mondays at 9 p.m. EST on TNT.
