Was this week's episode of "Community" a prelude to a bigger plot that will play out over the rest of the season? This year, Chang returned to the school as Kevin, suffering from what was dubbed "Changnesia." The latest episode was framed as another documentary by Abed exploring Changnesia -- and asking for funding to research it.
But Jeff was suspicious that this was yet another plot by Chang. Chang was persistent, though. He insisted that he had no memories of who he'd been, what he'd done or even the most basic things. Everyone in the school seemed to believe his story, except for Jeff.
Ultimately, though, he appeared to accept it -- or is he just playing along. Nevertheless, Jeff made friends with "Kevin," and a new chapter started.
Only it didn't. Jeff was right to be suspicious, as shown in the final scene. Chang said over the phone, "They all finally bought it. Hook, line and Winger. I patiently await your further instructions. Chang out."
The AV Club was with Jeff, certain that Chang was faking. But they hoped this isn't leading into another "conspiracy against the school" plot. ScreenCrush, on the other hand, is worried it might not be leading anywhere. They wrote, "This feels like a builder, like much of what was planted here is intended to pay off later, but it’s hard to know for sure since so many ideas have already been abandoned or don’t seem to be in play."
See if it comes back into play by tuning in to "Community" every Thursday at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
