Daniel Martinez-Leffew, Son Of Gay Dads, Urges Supreme Court Justice To Embrace Gay Marriage

WATCH: 12-Year-Old Urges Supreme Court Justice To Embrace Gay Marriage

The 12-year-old adopted son of two gay dads urged Supreme Court Justice John Roberts to strike down Prop 8 and embrace gay marriage in a poignant letter.

Daniel Martinez-Leffew, who lives in northern California with his dads Bryan and Jay and younger sister, says he was inspired to write the letter after learning that Roberts has two adopted children of his own. He recalls being considered "unadoptable" as a young child because he has a genetic disorder, Goldenhar Syndrome.

"Lucky for me, that's when my two dads came along," he says in the letter.

Adding that his dads are "really encouraging" him to pursue his dream of becoming a cook, Daniel note, "I know you have a tough decision to make with the gay marriage issue, but my family is just as valuable and worthwhile as any other."

The Supreme Court will reportedly take up the case of whether to overturn Proposition 8, California's voter-approved ban on same-sex marriage, on March 26. A day later, the Defense of Marriage Act (or DOMA) will come before the Supreme Court 17 years after being signed into law.
