Everybody's favorite not-gay couple -- or are they? -- on "The Following" turned up this week. They'd sought refuge at Jacob's vacation property where Paul wasn't doing so well. Jacob's mother was a nurse, and though she was horrified at what the news was saying about them, she still checked in on Paul. She told Jacob that without surgery and a hospital, he'd surely die.
Rather than allow himself to be turned in, Paul told Jacob to kill him. Jacob owed him, after all. Flashbacks revealed when Paul first found out that Jacob had never killed anyone, and how he'd kept that secret from Emma. Jacob honored his vow and his closest friend, Paul, became his first-ever victim.
Emma, meanwhile, had been vehemently ignoring Jacob's attempts to contact her while she was trying to make moves on Joe Carroll. Moves that were working on one level, but she was never going to replace Claire in Joe's eyes. He started killing other Claire Matthews in an attempt to flush his wife out this week.
As for Emma, dejected but committed to winning Joe over, she certainly didn't look happy to see Jacob when he showed up at the compound. Is he just going to be in the way of whatever she's planning? How will she take the fact that he killed Paul? And how will that change Jacob?
