It may not feel like it but today is the first day of spring.
There's a lot to look forward to during warmer weather in Washington (we have a full roundup of spring weather activities) but most of all, spring is a time to enjoy D.C.'s outdoor spaces.
When it comes to getting outside, there are plenty of places to go hiking: Rock Creek Park, Great Falls Park and the C&O Canal are all an easy Metro, bus or car ride away. If you'd rather see D.C. by water, try paddle boating on the Tidal Basin or kayaking down the Potomac River.
In these seven secret gardens, though, it's just you and the sounds of nature. Some are in the city, others are further afield, all provide a place for peace and tranquility.
Know of a great garden we missed? Tell us!
