D.J. Stephens Dunks: Memphis Star Puts On Show Against Saint Mary's In NCAA Tournament (VIDEO)

Memphis' D.J. Stephens was just a bit too dynamic for the Saint Mary's Gaels and no play better showcased his athleticism than this first half with a highlight-reel dunk.

In the final minute of the first half, Tigers guard Joe Jackson used a screen from Stephens and dribbled to the top of the key. Both Saint Mary's defenders followed Jackson as Stephens rolled to the basket. Jackson threw up a perfectly placed alley-oop pass that Stephens caught in mid-air and emphatically threw down with two hands.

CBS announcers Verne Lundquist And Bill Raftery got quite excited, sounding as if they each jumped out of their seats during the call.

Stephens dominated at the other end of the court, finishing with a career-high eight blocks.

Saint Mary's rallied to give Memphis a scare at the end of regulation. But Matthew Dellavedova misfired on what would have been a game-winning 3-pointer for the Gaels, sending the Tigers into the next round.
