Well, we could've seen this one coming.
Pippa Middleton and her agent, David Godwin, have parted ways. Godwin told the Daily Mail, "I am very sorry it has happened, but yes, it is true: I no longer represent Pippa and I wish her every good luck."
She's going to need it.
Godwin was the one who secured Middleton her book deal, which reportedly spawned a bidding war that topped out at over $600,000. But all the hype was for naught: When Pippa's party-planning book, Celebrate, hit stores, it sold a measly 2,000 copies in its first week and because the laughing stock of critics.
The Irish Sun wrote, "It is clear that by writing the book Pippa set out to prove that there is far more to her than her pert bottom. But the fact is, there isn’t." British author Jilly Cooper called it "terrible." A parody account called @PippaTips popped up, mocking the book's overly simple advice. (A sample #PippaTip: "Remember to wrap your presents before putting them under the tree in order to keep them a surprise.")
Still, it does not appear that Pippa was "dropped" by her agent simply due to Celebrate's poor reception. The Daily Mail notes that Middleton and Godwin were a poor fit to begin with. One source tells the Mail, "His writers are heavyweights while Pippa’s niche is fluffy and commercial. In the end it was clear the union was not a happy one." It also appears that Pippa has no plans to write a second book (we don't blame her), so remaining with Godwin wouldn't benefit either of them.
On to better things, right? Pippa was recently hired as a columnist for Waitrose Kitchen, the in-house magazine of British supermarket chain Waitrose (imparting entertaining tips, of course). Plus she's got her relationship with boyfriend Nico Jackson to work on -- things are getting serious.
