Americans for Responsible Solutions, a gun control group chaired by former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) and her husband, Mark Kelly, released a video this week in which Kelly attempts to demonstrate how simple it is to fill out a background check before purchasing a firearm.
In a total of five minutes and thirty-six seconds, Kelly is in and out of the store with his new .45 caliber handgun. His message: that a universal background check system wouldn't burden gun buyers who can pass a background check.

"Gabby and I are gun owners, so we know background checks are simple, painless, and meant to keep guns out the hands of criminals and the mentally ill," Kelly wrote in an introduction to the video. "Background checks are a common sense solution to reduce gun violence that everyone should be able to get behind."
Earlier this month, Kelly attempted to highlight the nation's lax gun laws by purchasing an AR-15 semiautomatic rifle, saying that he planned to turn it in to the police once he received the weapon.
The owner of the gun store later terminated Kelly's transaction and refunded the purchase before Kelly could take possession of the weapon. He claimed that it was in his "company’s best interest to terminate this transaction prior to his returning to [the] store to complete the Federal Form 4473 and NICS (National Instant Criminal Background Check System)."
