Phil Jackson Twitter Debut: Former NBA Coach Tweets, Gains Lots Of Followers

Phil Jackson has joined Twitter and he brought his 11 championship rings with him.

With an avatar depicting each of his championship rings, Jackson's account garnered attention before he even sent out his first dispatch. The image of the rings will appear on the cover of Jackson's forthcoming book Eleven Rings: The Soul of Success. Whether or not Jackson has joined Twitter to stay or if he's merely testing it out in order to promote the book, he's off to a memorable and widely retweeted start.

Jackson, who won 11 NBA championships as coach of the Los Angeles Lakers and Chicago Bulls, received a welcome to Twitter from his fiance, Jeanie Buss, on Wednesday.

Several hours later, Jackson sent out his first message.

With 11 championship rings, who needs spellcheck? With his reputation as the deep-thinking "Zen Master" of the hardwood, Jackson's typo-laden debut was scrutinized like some ancient text.

Prominent among those who took note of Jackson's Twitter debut was Kobe Bryant.
