'Smash': Bernadette Peters Returns To Play Ivy's Mom In 'Bombshell' Sneak Peek (VIDEO)

Legend Returns To Shake Up Bombshell

Broadway vet Bernadette Peters is returning to "Smash," but not everyone is excited to have her.

Peters is reprising her role as diva actress Leigh Conroy -- who just so happens to be the mother of another actress with diva tendencies, Ivy Lynn (Megan Hilty) -- for next week's new episode titled "The Parents" (Tuesday, April 2 at 10:01 p.m. ET on NBC). Ivy and her mother have a strained relationship already, but bringing in Ivy's overbearing, hyper-needy, spotlight-stealing mom to play Marilyn's mother on stage might just be the final straw.

Check out HuffPost TV's exclusive sneak peek at Ivy's reaction to dear old mom's arrival ... an arrival that pal and new director Tom (Christian Borle) didn't exactly warn her about. Seriously you guys -- what else could go wrong with "Bombshell"? Will Ivy ever get a break?

Here's NBC's official description of "Smash," "The Parents":

After Leigh Conroy (guest star Bernadette Peters) joins the cast of “Bombshell,” Tom (Christian Borle) finds himself struggling to diffuse the years of tension between her and Ivy (Megan Hilty). Jimmy (Jeremy Jordan) and Karen’s (Katharine McPhee) connection is threatened by both Ana’s (Krysta Rodriguez) newfound success and an unexpected visitor. Derek (Jack Davenport) learns more about Jimmy’s past just as the public sees their first piece of “Hit List.” Jesse L. Martin and Bernadette Peters guest star.
