How to respond when your spouse tells you he wants out after years of marriage? It's an all-too-familiar experience, and on Thursday, HuffPost blogger Monique Honaman sat down with the "Today" show's Kathy Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb and shared how she reacted when her husband asked for a divorce after 16 years of marriage.

"I got that rhetorical question -- 'How do you think we're doing?' -- and I said, 'What do you mean, how do you think we're doing?'" she recalled. "Seven months later, I was the cliché of a 40-year-old divorced woman with two kids trying to figure out what in the hell just happened in my life."

Honaman, who was joined in the segment by fellow HuffPost blogger Rachel Sussman, has written extensively about life after divorce for HuffPost Divorce and in her book, The High Road Has Less Traffic: Honest Advice On The Path Through Love And Divorce.
