AnnaSophia Robb Covers 'Seventeen,' Talks Austin Butler And Deferring College (PHOTOS)

AnnaSophia Robb Talks Austin Butler And 'The Carrie Diaries' (PHOTOS)

From her unique fashion obsession to gallivanting around New York City on school nights, Carrie Bradshaw on The CW's new series, "The Carrie Diaries," is as glamorous as any '80s teenager could be. Though her character sometimes lives in a young fashionista's fantasy, AnnaSophia Robb -- the actress who stars as Carrie -- is actually a normal, super laid-back 19-year-old. (Though maybe with a better closet.)

In a cover interview with Seventeen magazine, the teen actress opened up about her high school days, why she isn't headed off to college just yet and what it's like to work on the set of "The Carrie Diaries" with co-star Austin Butler.

Making the choice between going to college and working on "The Carrie Diaries" wasn't an easy one for AnnaSophia, but she ultimately chose to trust her instincts and defer admission from Stanford University.

"I’m a spiritual person. So I prayed and thought about it a lot, but I trusted my gut, because what else do you have to go on?" she said.

School aside, she spilled details of her on-screen romance with Austin, which isn't as romantic as viewers might think -- though his relationship with his girlfriend, Vanessa Hudgens, seems to be.

"One of the biggest challenges for us is to be sexy and flirty on camera because we just can’t take each other seriously any more. Kissing on camera isn’t that fun! But he’s so cute!" she said. "He [Austin] talks about Vanessa [Hudgens] all the time. They’re crazy in love! I don’t think I’m ready to be that in love. They put so much time into their relationship, and I’m too selfish right now."

AnnaSophia also explained how she dealt with high school drama.

"I think girls are especially worried about being judged, and when you’re in high school, everything seems like a bigger deal than it is. So do what you want, and if people are going to judge you for it, who cares? You might not fit in, but that’s okay."
