Sen. Richard Blumenthal: Gun Background Check Failure Is 'Sad Day' For U.S. Senate

The Senate failed to muster sufficient support Wednesday for a gun-buyer background check bill that's supported by nearly 90 percent of Americans, voting the measure down in a procedural vote that likely dooms any major legislation to curb gun violence.

Connecticut Sen. Richard Blumenthal joined HuffPost Live Wednesday to discuss the Senate's decision, which he said left him "shocked" and "angry." Blumenthal said he and the families of the victims of Newtown's school shooting tragedy won't give up their fight for stricter gun control laws.
